Who are we?

LLAMA is an acronym that stands for League of Latin American Migrants Australia.

LLAMA is a volunteer‑run Australian charity supporting the wellbeing, integration, and community participation of Latin American and Spanish‑speaking migrants, students, and families.

Founded in 2021, LLAMA is a registered Australian charity created to support the wellbeing and integration of Latin American and Spanish‑speaking communities. What began as a small volunteer initiative has grown into a community‑driven organisation offering free education programs, employment support, and cultural engagement activities across Victoria.Our work is grounded in solidarity, cultural understanding, and the belief that every person deserves opportunities to thrive, connect, and feel a sense of belonging in Australia.

What We Do

LLAMA is founded

Created as a volunteer‑run initiative to support the wellbeing and integration of Latin American and Spanish‑speaking communities in Australia.

2021

Registered as an Australian Charity

LLAMA becomes officially registered with the Australian Charities and Not‑for‑profits Commission (ACNC). ABN: 52 323 720 344.

2022

Launch of Free English Programs

Volunteer teachers begin delivering free online and face‑to‑face English classes for migrants and international students.

2023

Employment & Rights Programs Expand

LLAMA partners with the Migrant Workers Centre, English colleges, and visa agencies to deliver job‑seeking workshops and Know Your Rights at Work sessions.

2024

Community Connector Roles Begin

LLAMA participates in national research projects and multicultural events, strengthening community engagement and representation.

2025–2026

Growing Impact

LLAMA continues expanding programs, volunteer participation, and community partnerships across Victoria.

Mission

LLAMA’s mission is to support the needs of international students, migrants, refugees and the established members from Latin American backgrounds in Australia. LLAMA aims to provide quality services, programs and activities that address the needs and challenges faced by Latinos in Australia, including English language classes, educational programs, advice for those seeking employment in Australia, and referrals to other communities and government organisations.
